Toll Brothers began developing and selling homes in Bayside in 2006. Development was stopped short because of the 2008 housing market downturn. Construction has not resumed since. This explains the large number of vacant lots and open space.
One unique feature of the neighborhood is an extremely long 1300+ ft pier that extends into the bay toward Assateague Island. The ten minute walk will offers wildlife sights including waterfowl, otters and bay critters like crabs.
